Conservation + regeneration earthworks around a medieval site to create a riverside walk for the community of Bishopthorpe, a picturesque village on the south side of York. MLC’s sensitive application of progressive engineering successfully reclaimed wetlands predating the Domesday Book.
Work was undertaken to re-profile and preserve the existing riverbank, using stone filled gabions founded on stone armouring, backfilled with stone and completing the profile with geotextile and topsoil. Construction of extended channels for outflows, with reinforced concrete walkway over.
This project was funded by The National Lottery Heritage fund and took twelve weeks.
Following the successful completion of the project to the highest standard, St Andrew's Trust subsequently invited our Managing Director to become a Trustee, a position which he holds to this day,
