This summer, the team at MLC YORK have been working on our design & build project at 8 St, Paul’s St, to provide W Denis Insurance Brokers PLC with their brand spanking new headquarters in the heart of Leeds.
This has involved the demolition of parts of the existing structure, making way for a brand-new structural steel frame to both the rear elevation as well as adding an additional three floors, including a state of the art roof terrace.
The existing 70’s built concrete framed building provided its own challenges for demolition – the heavily reinforced frame required cutting into small sections to allow them to be removed safely and disposed of down our bespoke rumble chute to skips waiting below.
Each element of the frame, concrete, reinforcing, clay pot and beam flooring and all other materials involved in the strip out were segregated to dispose of or reuse, in compliance with the stringent BREEAM guidelines employed in this project to achieve a 21st Century BREEAM Excellent building when complete.
UK Diamond Drilling Limited provided exceptional demolition services, undertaken in exemplary fashion, using their BROKK 90 robotic electric-powered concrete breakers, as you can see from the below video.
